Love my Padres!

About 20 minutes ago, I climbed into bed and turned on the news to wind down my day... they announced that the Rockies were hosting the Padres tonight and the game was tied 8-8 in the 8th inning. I quickly surfed through channels until I found a broadcast of the game and now it's the top of the 9th and the Padres have earned 7 more runs this inning... and there's still only 1 out... the score right now is 15-8 Padres... and I'm sitting here with a big ol' grin on my face =) I love my Padres!!

Crowned Crane

I made this ATC for the monthly Winner-Takes-All lottery on Paper Traders. Still struggling with my muse but anything asian is always a favorite for me.

Aces

Our Paper Traders group is doing a monthly challenge using a deck of playing cards - it's called "52 Card Dress-Up." This month's theme is "wings" using the aces. I'm still struggling to find my muse but managed to put these together this week.

Asian Houses Redux

As I mentioned earlier this week, I haven't been satisfied with the quality of my recent artwork. So I decided to remake my asian chipboard houses. I didn't start over from scratch but did take them down to the background paper and rebuilt them up again, adding more features, more distress ink, and adjusted the layers. I am much more satisfied with the results:

Pushing through

Last Friday, I had the WORST migraine! And ever since then, I've been exhausted... and that seems to have left me unmotivated and muse-less. I have been pushing through the artistic block and trying to create something each day. This week, I managed to do these chipboard houses - all with an asian theme (one of my favorites). Unfortunately, I'm not loving what I'm creating.... but still pushing on...

More houses

I worked on a few more houses today and this is what I came up with... this first one seemed so much better in my head but I just couldn't get it to come together how I'd pictured. I kept playing with but I don't think it really helped... oh well... sometimes that's just how art goes...

This second house I really LOVE! I spent a looooong time playing around with my ephemera until I found the right pieces to go together. It's so simple - there's really not much to it - but I think it's so pretty:

This one is just fun and whimsical - something different to try and get my mind thinking out of the box. I wasn't sure I was going to like it... but... turns out I do!

French Collage

I made this rubber stamp collage using several stamps from a Stampin Up! set I have... plus a few others. I rubbed a Q-tip over my stamp pads and used it to paint the lady's face. The bird shows up darker IRL but it's stamped with a shimmery Pearl-Ex ink that didn't scan well.

Doodling

I did a little doodling practice on the back of my business cards at work this week... (don't tell the boss!)

For this one, I just drew a squiggle that ended up looking like a rabbit (a complete coincidence) so I decided to just go with it:

The Chook Shed

This is the spread I just completed for Jenene's round robin journal "The Chook Shed" in our Paper Traders group. She's from Australia and down under a chook is a hen. I thought it would be fun to take a quirky approach to my spread and so I'm calling this one "Mmm... Tastes Like Chicken!" LOL =)
