Family Resemblance

My mom sent me this photo of my late grandmother and commented on the resemblance... what do you think?

Working Weekend

My goal for today is to clean house. I have put it off for too long and now I feel like I'm living in a hovel. For those of you who know how OCD I can be, I'm sure this comes as a surprise but my house is a mess! As soon as I get off the computer here, I am going to become a cleaning machine... and the sooner I get it done, the sooner I can play =) I have lots of arty things floating around in my head and I need to get them out and into my hands.

Here's an ATC I made earlier in the week. I was experimenting with painting with bleach (the light areas) and applying PearlEx powders (I used three different golds here).

Counting Crows

I stepped in to fill a needed space for the Paper Traders' Counting Crows swap. The "negative" effect was created by stamping with bleach:
One for Sorrow,
Two for Mirth,
Three for a Wedding,
Four for a Birth,
Five for Silver,
Six for Gold,
Seven for a secret
not to be told.

Up... up... and away!

The store where I've been working got these cute shirts in with embroidered hot air balloons on them. When I saw them, I was inspired to make these ATC's:

What a SUPER Super Bowl!

The big football game was today and it couldn't have been any more exciting! Unfortunately, my team didn't make it this far, but I was still very happy to root for the underdog. New York was able to do what many said was impossible - they beat the Patriots. My throat is raw and sore from all the screaming but what a great game. I love seeing Tom Brady going down, time after time after time! Nobody really cares about the team that went 18-1 but everyone will cheer for the team that beat them!

Now just a few more months until baseball season starts - what am I going to do until then?

Here fishy, fishy, fishy...

Yesterday was my friend Brenden's birthday party (he's 8) and we went to the Denver Aquarium. It was very cool and so much fun! We spent nearly 3 hours eating in the restaurant, walking through the aquarium, feeding the rays, getting faces painted, and playing and climbing around on huge foam fish! Everyone had a blast! When it was all over, we each took a birthday balloon, made a wish, and let them go into the sky - unfortunately, mine caught a breeze and got stuck under the eaves of the building... I wonder if that's a bad sign? Thank goodness I'm not superstitious!

Sometimes it's good to be a Quitter

I gave notice at my mall job this week and next Monday will be my last day there. Although I will miss the extra buffer in my budget, I feel like a weight has been lifted. Lately, I have just felt that the things I was sacrificing were not worth the few extra bucks I was making. I will need to be a bit more thrifty with my spending and it may take a little longer to reach my financial goals but I honestly believe that if I am keeping my priorities straight and living life right, I will be blessed for it.
